This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. It’s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm, a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence that burns with energy and builds with all the impetus of a crescendo, the roll of the drums, the crash of the cymbals–sounds that say listen to this, it is important. - Gary Provost
My story has reached 7,000 words. and it is half way. *weeps* I know I can't get anything done without extensions, but this is cutting it awfully short. I long for the days when 2000 words
was a story.
Thank you anonymous person for the sunflower v-gift! It's gorgeous and it was lovely to get today.

Date: 2011-08-27 02:05 am (UTC)I remember with nostalgia that Erestor/Legolas, where I added a few words during the beta to help you past the 1200 minimum length:) :) Life was simpler then. Of course that was what - six years ago? More? Each one is a little longer than the last *hides*
Yes I am typing in my sleep.

Date: 2011-08-28 01:26 am (UTC)I know you can't beta that overnight. :( I'm trying, really I am. This did not go according to plan.
If the edit function was taken away, you should not type in your sleep. Wayyyy too many 'crap, I wish I had the edit function' comments. :D
