Welllllll...I'm not sure. Definitely less tha 1200 words. **hides**
I have the beginning, a small snippet of the middle, and how it will end in the conflict sense. The actual physical manifestation of that resolution is still very foggy. :(
I think my main problem is that I don't normally write like this - I start at the beginning and go to the end. So I really have only the vaguest idea of where I am and where I'm going.. **cries**
I used to be amazed at that - my first swap fic was 1,167 words. The minimum was 1,200. Kei had to help me put some extra words in. :D Was a short story writer. These days, I've gotten up to 13k. 25k feels absolutely humongous.
Oh we are in this boat together. I don't know how I am going to pull this one off. Do you have a story idea at least?
Hee! I can sympathise. My SV fic from earlier this year was just over 3,000 words and the second-longest fic I've ever written. :D
I have... some vague notions. I'm still not quite 100% settled on the pairing (though I do love my choices). If I could at least do that then I could poke ideas better, likely. Oi. My brain, sometimes.
I don't think I've written a properly short story in a long time and I miss it. The swap fics have a tendency of growing - if you keep doing it, the longer they'll get. So next year, maybe 6k?
I have a set pairing and no particular plot request. Which in theory sounds cool, but in practice means I don't have any direction to head into...
I wouldn't mind getting used to writing longer fics. I've always kind of cursed my sparse-ass writing style that contributes toward my fics being so short. (That, and my somewhat deficient plotting skills.)
Which in theory sounds cool, but in practice means I don't have any direction to head into...
I know exactly what you mean! I'm right there with you, too. I have a choice of pairings & genres, but no starting point. And it's difficult to yank an idea out of my queue of stories-I'd-like-to-write because, well, it's for someone else and I want it to be as much just-for-them as possible.
I adore the second pairing. ♥ I'd just need to figure out what to do with them that isn't the same thing everyone else does with them. Hee.
Eep, that's difficult. -_- It's one thing to work with an assignment that's outside your normal writing 'thing', but another to try to wrestle with one you dislike altogether. I hope something great comes out of it regardless. ♥
