writing and other things

It's a bit like pulling hens' teeth as the saying goes, but it is going. I think Kei might kill me before the end of this one. Just have hit a really rough patch in the personal life, and trying to write on top of it has been difficult.
But, life goes on.
Also, my mom's signature dish is probably her cheese potatoes, thin discs of golden potatoes in a bechamel sauce with extra sharp cheddar, baked with more cheese on top. It always bubbles over the side of the pan no matter what she does, and it always disappears whether it's a family dinner or a social gathering. Also her cinnamon rolls - yeasty and tender dough, deeply flecked with cinnamon and a sweet (but not too sweet) vanilla frosting on top, melting into the cinnamon/brown/sugar/butter swirls.
There are too many dishes I associate with her, but those are probably her most favorite and most requested dishes.
